went for a gathering yesterday. i was 35 mins late and it was due to bad judgement call. foreseeing a traffic jam at orchard during peak hour, i took another route to reach marina square. bad choice. the alternative route is along tanjong pagar, through raffles etc etc. normally, this route is the fastest to marina square but definitely not during peak hour, too many cars!!!
anyway, with the group being so big (16 if i'm not wrong), i dont make that much of an impact by being so late. they were already at their 2nd round in brekz (brezk?) when i got there. 2nd time there and i dont have fond memories on my first (food wise i mean). yesterday's visit had sealed the verdict. it's not that great and for the variety of food there, paying $26++ wasn't just worth it.
what's the ideal group size for gathering? personally, i think it's 3-6. if u happen to go to a place with no round table, with a group size of 6, everyone still can talk to each other. well, gathering is supposed to be a get together in which everyone can catch up with one another's life. today, with a group size of 16, i had conversation with only half the friends gathered there, the other half was just so out of reach. and even among the half, i think there's still much to be covered but half was still too big a size.
after the meal, went to play billiards with 3 frens. come to think of it, after being in uni for 2 years, it seems like i never get to come out and play/fool/cheong around with uni frens. the only times we got together was to eat, the most popular singaporeans' pastime indeed. ok, once i caught a movie with some of them but that was it! no pubbing together, no karaoke together etc etc.
everyone is preoccupied with studying and their own lives, i guess.
a bit sad, isn't it?
Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?
