i had made an important decision.
i'm...i'm going to skip the dinner on my jogging days. i would rather grow vertically than horizontally...then again, who doesn't? unlike some of my friends who are happily married and therefore can ignore their waistline, i cant. i wont go into extreme and start counting my calories or trying to eat less carbo. just having one less meal will do. i'm thinking of fasting during weekend but it's not feasible...too many appointments. why fast? it's just to "cleanse" the body and be more spiritual...
on the topic of food, read about this group of people who gathered unsold bread from all over the island and sent them to charity homes? it's a nice gesture...BUT do they really need more than $10k( a month to run the programme? if my memory did not fail me, it was reported in the paper a few months ago. the $ went into 2 full time staffs and various bills like phone charges, electricity etc. the figure i quoted might be wrong but i remembered it was not a small sum.
my grouse? i believe this programme can be carried out with lesser $. do they really need 2 full time staffs to coordinate everything? how about asking students to do the coordination? students who lived in halls, students from NTU and NUS. of course they would get points for it. the schools just need to provide them a room with the necessary equipments. even during exams time or vacation period, i believed there will be students to do it. those $10k+ a mth could be put to better uses.
on the other hand, bakeries should be able to cut down the extras. it's basic business management anyway. now that people are collecting the unsold bread, will the owners/managers feel bad if there's not a lot of extra breads? will they feel compelled to bake more breads? anyway, in the first place, why cant they deliver the food directly to a charity home nearby? why the need for middlemen? why the need for $10k?
me only talk, no action.
Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?
