it's boring but you'll read it anyway. had to write it down as a keepsake.
it's surreal in a sense that i can "feel" my brain while having a hangover. i was lying on the bed, trying my best to shut out the pounding headache. as usual, no panadol until the very last moments. i groaned on the bed and if i shifted my body from lying on left side to the right right side (or vice versa), i can "feel" the brain shifting too. like it's trying to align itself to a certain position.
i'd expected the hangover. well, just two of us and we had to finish the 3/4 full bottle of tequila left over from the previous trip. as usual, bar none was crowded and some people were dressed up for halloween, not many and their costumes were nothing fanciful. cant locate a place to put our drinks. as the night ticked by, we had to resort to drinking from the bottle, neat. that's what killed the both of us.
during the first set of performance by the resident band, my fren who was carrying his bag stood out from the crowd. the locker was too small for his bag...or so he claimed. a lady dedicated the song 'a better man' and douglas o, the lead singer started cracking jokes.
are you celebrating an occasion or something like that? your birthday? you getting married? you got pregnant? getting divorced? oh, you getting a divorce? it's ok, there's many good guys here in the pub. look at that guy carrying a bag, he looked pretty decent. come on, say hi to him. hey, the guy carrying the bad, say hi to her...
and blah blah blah...
anyway the guitarists sung the song and it's pretty good. one of them is really gorgeous looking and have quite a number of female fans. overheard it from 2 gals standing very close (well, it was crowded) beside me.
gal 1: that guitarist is so cute.
gal 2: yah, he has a lot of female fans around.
gal 1: if only i can get him...
gal 2: look at the ring he's wearing.
gal 1: he's married? oh, that's too bad.
during the 2nd set of performance, my fren was in the limelight again. someone is getting married and she's having her hen party there at bar none and was saboed by her dear frens. she got up to the stage and there's the usual bantering going on. douglas o requested for a man to dance with her and that went to my fren, the 'bag man'.
i was thinking inside, if i'm called up and had to introduce myself. i would say: i'm the 'bag man' friend, my name is robin...
wonder if i'll elicit some laughs from the crowd with my corny line.
perhaps it's due to the exposure, everyone was really friendly to my fren. while the dance music was being played, people invited him to dance together. some of them would extend their hands and introduced themselves and acquaintances were made. an ang moh (again!) bought us 2 tiger beers. i myself also made a few acquaintances but i was too high to remember their names and the conversation we had. i was trying my best to sober up but i remembered that's this gal named karen and another named alicia. i cant put a face to their names...wont be meeting them again anyway.
the fact i'm able to write this despite my hangover meant that i had already popped my pills. have another drinking session with my army frens later and i'm down to my last $50...shucks, i really need to curb down on my spending. maybe....maybe i'll just order a fruit punch later...
Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?
