Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?

funeral

a relative passed away last saturday.

it's about time too.

wait a minute, that statement was from his son, not me.

he's 91 this year. the words on the white lanterns were written in red ink, something that's reserved for people who has lived a long ripe life.

if you believe in taoism, once you are over the age of 90, there's no need to add another 2 years to the age. for buddhism, you have to add another 2 years despite the long life. (some said it's over 80...)

for those who do not live that long, it's standard to add another 2 years, be it taosim or buddhism.

it was a lively funeral, lots of laughter. after all, he's 91. the older relatives were commenting: we are now in the queue...waiting.

frankly speaking, i do not think i wish to live that long. there're problems with walking, hearing and seeing.

death will be a relief indeed.

anyway, a nugget of information for you. in singapore casket, there's 5 floors. 2nd floor is the admin floor. 3rd floor can hold 3 funerals. 4th floor can hold 2 funerals and 5th floor can hold only 1 funeral.

so which floor for you?

or do you prefer the void deck?
