woken up from a nap

someone called me while i was taking a nap just now.

he's a representative from a company named power 9/ power nine.

huh? what's that?

he promptly explained that it's a company specializing in organizing career seminars. he cited the current economic downturn and many of the singaporeans cannot find a job or those with jobs are trying to find better ones.

the company was trying to match make jobs between employers and the diploma/degree holders.

he asked if i'm free on sept 1st and if i'm going to register for the seminars. he also asked if i'm bringing any friend because they would need to be registered before attending any seminar.

as i was due to graduate this nov, i was genuinely interested in what he had to offer...

then it struck me as i truly woke up from my nap.

"is there any catch? like i have to pay a registration fee or something?", i probed.

"no lah, we dont do this kind of things..." and he went on pitching the seminars.

alarm bells rang in my head. only certain people from certain companies pitch and pitch their "products".

"so, how can i find out more about your company? perhaps on the net or something?"

"err...dont worry, it's a reputable company. err...you can check the registry of business. we are listed in it"

"only the registry of business, how about the internet?"

"dont worry, we are registered in the...." and he went on pitching the seminars again.

"sorry, i'm not interested", i interjected.

"thank you for your time", and he promptly cut off the line.

at least he knew when to retreat. i was expecting him to be more aggressive when i rejected him. and i was going to ask him where did he got my house number and my name.

i really hate MLM.
