bintan

i came back from a bintan trip yesterday.

there's the sand...the sea...but missing the third "s". man cant control weather, can we?

considering we were on an indonesia island, the prices there were quite exorbitant. and everything was in sing dollars. with mostly singaporeans guests at the resort, at times, i wonder...am i really out of singapore?

part of the island was barricaded and occupied by nirwana gardens. under NG, there're four places for you to choose from. facilities wise, i think nirwana resort hotel offers the best (especially during rainy season). if you are going to bintan and looking for somewhere that's relatively cheap, NRH is the place to choose. if you are going with a large family and wish to stay together, there's the banyu biru's villas. this place is just located beside NRH and hence one can make use of the facilities too. if you are willing to spend, there's always the banyan tree group.

during the january to march period when the weather is great, if you are one sporty person, staying at mana mana is highly recommanded. lots of water sports and equipment can be done and rent there. wind surfing, surfboarding, jet skilling, parasailing, diving, snorkelling, kayaking are some of the options. food wise, beside the restaurant that's located at every resort, there's also a kelong restaurant which can be reached via an internal shuttle bus service. taste wise, pretty decent.

all the information was gleaned from the buggy trip i had. lousy weather with "hairy hairy" rain. since staying at the beach and have fun was out, what my friends and i could do was to explore. bintan is a great place for couples and it can get pretty idyllically...provided it dont rain. i also did some archery and air rifle shooting.

while waiting for the bus to ferry us to the ferry terminal, i had a body massage at asmara spa. frankly speaking, i had better experiences in phuket. during the ferry trip, if one is prone to seasickness, dont sit at the sides and the front, lesser movement. go figure.

will i go back to bintan again?

provided it's with the other significant half. with the soothing waves' music, sitting at the beach with the salty wind caressing your body can be rather romantic.
