Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?

not a good day

out of the blue, i'd received a call from my ex-employer last night. the one i worked for during my poly days.

his comp had broken down and needed some help.

i volunteered to go down today after my work.
...
that's one of the perils of working in the IT line.

people assume we can solve anything that's IT related.

i'll try but no guarantee.
...
i enjoyed working with him.

first, the work required us to travel all around singapore.

second, all meals are provided for. ya, including breakfast.

third, transport from home to work site and vice versa was taken care of by him.

how to find a employer like him...

alas, his business suffered during the financial crisis...
...
i saw his daughter, she's in P1 now.

times really flies. not that i have a vivid impression but she was a baby when i last saw her.

i made small talk with him and then i asked him, "so, where's your wife? still working huh?"

his face changed and replied, "oh, we had divorced already."
...
that rendered me speechless for a while.

is it tougher to be a single dad or a single mum?

what went wrong with the marriage? someone cheated?

or was it all due to money?

questions streaked across my mind but i could not find the answers.

"it's all in the past, i dont want to talk about it..."

ya, it's more difficult for a guy to talk about his unhappiness.

that, i understand.
