Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?

friends

lesson was boring and i begun surfing blogs.

something which i hardly have time for nowadays.

one topic caught my eyes.
...
original post
and spin off.
...
falling in love is a slow process.

lust at first sight, sure! definitely not love at first sight.

a friend is single and you spend some time with her.

time passes and you are attracted to her.

you wonder...to make the first move and risk ruining the current status?

outcome may not be bleak but...there's always this apprehension.

unless you are a player, you may not have enough experience dealing with rejections.

of course, some people are just plain thick-skinned.
...
let's said you made the first move.

a bulldozer comes your way.

"why dont we just remain as friends?"

suddenly, "friends" sounds like a hateful word.

of course you dont want to remain as friends but saying no is not very gracious, right?

but that is not as hateful as...

"why dont you be my brother?"

BROTHER?!

*pui* buy 4D huh. consolation prize?

the only brother i want to be is the type that follows the groom around and get an ang pao in return.

thanks but no thanks.
...
and there are times when replies are...

"sorry, i just got attached(or attracted) to this guy".

then you start to wonder...

what if i make my move earlier...

and you start living your life in regrets...for a period at least.
...
so what if she's attached?

not married mah, still can go after.

you know what, there's a reason why good guys finish last...

too gentleman liao.
...
dropping hints...

how to drop?

wait, how do you identify hints in the first place?

we live such a complex life sometimes.
...
i think i need to stop listening to radio on my way back home after lesson.

it always set me off in a melancholic mood.

Not sure why, but this post of yours leaves quite an impression. It probably struck a cord with me, hard.

I came to learn the hard way that if an opportunity lost, the pain will come back hard, even after a decade.

Good guys don't finish last, hesitant guys do.

sometimes, once you cross 'The Line', the friendship would just never be the same again.

so why spoilt it isn't it :)

iceman sial, thought u melted and evaporated into the thin air liao. next time must go for gathering!

anyway, back to the post.

hesitant or too careful?

it's a fine thin line.

perhaps it's the perils of being a programmer.

many if-then-else in thoughts processing, too nested.

by the time a conclusion was made, too late.

sassyjan, i think you are one of the rare few who will actually advise leaving the relationship as it is.

for me, i will actually encourage people to go for it and make the feelings known.

doing that will actually lift a huge burden off the shoulders.

the relationship might be ruined but hey, it's worth the risk.

although personally, i'll just clam up and suffer in silence :)
