Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?

i'm back! it's certainly feel good to be home. i dont know about you but every time i came back from overseas, i'll appreciate singapore even more. no doubt i enjoy myself in phuket but home is still the best.

the skin around my forehead and nose is peeling off right now. never applied any sun protection lotion and is now "suffering" from it but there's no pain from sunburn because i managed to get a lotion for it on the same day of the trip. i went to an island about 3/4 hr ferry ride away from phuket. phi phi island if you're interested. paid 650 (S$30++) baht for day trip, lunch and snorkeling provided. the highlight of the trip was the snorkeling but to travel about 8 hrs to and fro for the one hour of snorkeling may be too much for some people. subjective i would said, had a relaxing time lazing on the deck of the ferry, chatting with frens and looking at fellow travellers, lots of singaporeans...

the best part is of course the highlight of the trip, i felt that i'm at the site of "finding nemo". even without my specs, i'm still in awe of the corals, though blurry, it's still magnificent. not many type of fishes though, saw about 3 to 4 only but there's many of them in the water. the guide brought along some bread and when thrown into the water, the fishes would swarm to the surface.

however, the life vest was a pain in the ass or in this case, a pain in the chest. i wondered if it's because the vest was too big for me or i'm not used to breathing through my mouth through the mouth piece. i'm struggling to take each breath while snorkeling and after about 40+ mins, i had to return to the ship, if i stayed in the water any longer, i'll pass out for sure.

during the last 5 mins of the allocated time for the snorkeling, i jumped into the sea without the life vest. i had a hard time willing myself to take the plunge, there's this hesitation in my mind. this is the sea, not the pool...a test of my confidence, not that great but still, i jumped in.

on the return trip to phuket, a lot of people took refuge in the air conditioned rooms instead of staying on the deck.

what a pity.
