some fridays, i'm bored to tears but some fridays, frens from different groups would call me out on the same day. yesterday was one such day, 2 gatherings and one mahjong session. i dont usually ask people out. first, i hate the organizing. being in the ops dept in the army for almost 2 years in the army had swore me off any planning/organizing(well, i try my best to avoid). second, i hate rejections and i also hate lines like "if xxx is going then i go". if you want to go, go. dont want to go then just said dont want to go. you can ask who's going but just dont let me know your decision hinge on a certain person.
went to another gathering on fri nite. had to reject my uni classmates' gathering which was on the same day. yesterday, i was meeting my pri sch frens. yah, pri sch frens. how many of you still keep in contacts with them? there's this core group whom i always meet up and once in a while, there's would be some classmates whom i had not meet in 10+ years would turn up. met one yesterday, a guy whom i used to play mahjong in class during those after exams periods. there are some people i hope to meet. to see how their appearance had changed. to enquire what their job status. to probe if they are still single...just joking ;p
from the way i see it, i think 3/4 of the class could be traced because they still keep in contact with some of us in one way or another. just that some would cook up excuses that they are not free in one way or another. some are genuine but i guess most are not. why? personally, if i would to go to a gathering where most people are those i have not meet in donkey years, i would be apprehensive too. but if i would to let that bother me, those frens are going to remain as frens i have not meet in donkey years. so what if we started off being awkward, it should get better with more gatherings.
doesn't seem like it but i do value relationships.
Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?
