i love kids.
went to a friend's house yesterday for a mini gathering. not everyone was there but it was still an enjoyable experience. the hostess prepared a simple lunch, nothing fancy but it was quite cosy. everyone chatted as we ate. after washing up, we chatted again (because short of one kaki...). one thing for sure, if i have a flat for by myself, i think i will invite friends often for meals. well, i have to learn how to cook first...
for me, the main event was to look at the baby they have. babies radiate this aura of calmness when they sleep. i will get warm and fuzzy inside when i look at them. guess most people will have the same feelings. too bad another friend did not come, will love to interact with the 2 kids they have.
one of our chat topics was on child's discipline. we were lamenting about the brats we saw on the streets. a friend commented, these brats sure dont encounter caning a lot and we agreed. caning is a must for any child's development. the punishment must be just though. some people said that after the caning, it must come with a counselling to explain to the child why he/she was being caned etc etc. bullshit, i will say. my dad certainly didn't counsel me after i was being caned but hey, i turned out ok. i'm pretty sure most of my friends who received caning during their childhood didn't receive any counselling.
i remembered what an aunt told me quite some years ago after she was disciplined my cousins. do not let the child play around with the cane (during "peace" time) and store the cane in hard-to-reach places, else they would lose the respect for the cane. a friend commented yesterday, once a cane is "unsheathed ", it must see "blood".
upbringing is very important.
Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?
