a friend in need is a friend indeed.
well, that's not the one and only method. let's said you are feeling suicidal and you call a friend. any decent human will try to talk you out of it and if that fail, will try to meet you face to face. that's basic compassion or whatever shit.
anyone thought of the other extreme method?
a friend ROMed last monday and had a buffet dinner at company bungalow near pasir ris park yesterday. as always, he called some friends over. some did not turn up and all were late, me included. this group of friends, being perpetually late each time for every outing, had resulted in me planning not to be early or on time. we were supposed to be there at 1830 and i was planning to reach there by 1900. well, being half an hour late aint so bad, i thought to myself.
due to a series of misjudgments while taking the transport, i actually reached there at 1930. i was feeling panicky and was rather apologetic when i met him, then he dropped a bombshell.
"you are the first to come."
i was like, huh, so late already and no one is here yet? wtf! yah, i'm part of the guilty party but...
later, i found out that one went to KL for a short holiday, one had actually forgot about this event (!!!), one was doing his guard duty, one just cant make it for reasons unknown to me.
the next one came half an hour later. an hour later, another two strolled in. another half an hour later, one rode in.
try holding a birthday party or some celebratory events and have a short notice, maybe a week or so. see who will turn up. see who will cancel their appointments and attend yours.
you can safely count them as friends.
Are you vicariously living through me in the hope that my accomplishments will validate your mediocre life and in some way compensate for all of the opportnunities you botched?
