bus stop

the bus just pulled over at the bus stop. say, at around 20 metres away, someone is clearly running, trying to catch the bus.

you are sitting at the bus stop, will you signal to the bus driver that someone is trying to catch up?

you are inside the bus, will you signal to the bus driver that someone is trying to catch up?

there are kind souls like that. not many but one can still catch sight of one...once in a blue moon.

sometimes, the expression of one who failed to catch a bus can be rather amusing.

some cursed colorfully.

some panted heavily.

some smiled sheepishly.

sometimes, one can see the whole family running after the bus. the children running excitedly in front of the parents, arms swinging wildly. one hand trying to grab the attention of bus driver, the other trying to encourage the parents to run faster. the parents, smiling, panting and cursing under their breath, wonder what happened to their fitness?

personally, i will rather wait for the next bus than to run after the bus and look like a fool later. i usually set aside enough time such that even if i miss the current bus, i will not be too late for the appointment.

say, if you see an elderly struggling to catch the bus but failed.

do you feel anything?

like why didn't you help?

aiyah, the transport system is so good. no need to wait long and the next bus will come along.

for what? the bus driver has a schedule to keep to.

pai seh lah, what if i'm deemed a busybody?

if so urgent, take taxi lah.
...
hmm...feeling rather pensive today.
